Property fraud: Man fakes papers, dupes Sector-14 bank of Rs 20 lakh - Hindustan Times:
Armed with meticulously prepared fake documents, a con artist took a bank on a Rs 20-lakh ride. The fraud involved a 200-square-yard plot, worth more than Rs 1 crore, located in Patel Nagar. The accused Amit Kumar Gupta produced a fake sale deed to avail a loan for the plot at the Oriental Bank of Commerce in Sector 14.

The document shows Dharamwati, wife of one Keerti Prasad and a resident of village Dundahera, as the seller of the plot. The accused, who is registered as son of Vishnu Kumar Gupta and a resident of house number 1505 in Sushant Lok, posed as the buyer.

However, as per records, a sale deed for the plot had already been registered in the name of a company on November 25.

The accused cited the same sale deed number and showed the document as registered on December 5.

Interestingly, the fake document was so meticulously prepared that it had computerised photographs of not only the seller and buyer, but also the then Naib Tehsildar Vijay Yadav.

However, the signatures of tehsildar were found to be forged. The case came to light when the bank officers came to verify the registry attached in a search report with the revenue department records.

They discovered that the document was found nowhere in the records. A different sale deed was registered in the name of a company.

According to the manager, the accused showed a plot in Patel Nagar to the bank loan officer. He said that an account in the name of Dharmwati has been opened in the bank for which the accused was the introducer and a photocopy of the woman’s pancard was also attached with the account opening form.

The bank manager then lodged an FIR against the accused Amit Kumar Gupta at the Sector 14 police station.

He managed to trace the accused and handed him over to the police. Gupta then confessed he is a resident of Mukherjee Nagar in Delhi. A police probe is on in the case.
