DDA to put property conversion facility online from next yr - Indian Express

DDA to put property conversion facility online from next yr - Indian Express:

The process for converting properties from leasehold to freehold is going to be available online in the coming year. According to officials from Ministry of Urban Development, the Ministry has asked Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to provide the facility online in an effort to streamline the system.

“A lot of people are inconvenienced as the entire process of converting a property from leasehold to freehold takes a lot of time. The Housing department received a large number of grievances pertaining to such cases. This prompted us to look at the possibility of making the facility available online. Those who have all the papers in place can get their properties converted without any delay,’’ said a DDA official. The land agency said it was in the process of hiring consultants to put the facility online.

The DDA had recently reduced the timeframe taken for completing the process from 90 days to 45 days. It had also changed ownership norms due to which it has become easier to sell properties. The charges for residential properties vary from Rs 27,720 to Rs 4,575 per sq m depending on the locality.
