Man’s body found in rented house - Indian Express

Police found the highly decomposed body of a 35-year-old man at a rented house in Southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area on Sunday night . The main accused in the case, who had reportedly taken the house on rent on Friday, is absconding.

Police said the incident came to light when the landlady of the house noticed a foul smell emanating from the house. She called the property dealer who, in turn, informed the police around 8 pm on Sunday.

Police said the house locked and they had to break open the door. “The man was lying on a bed sheet on the floor, and his hands and feet were tied. A rope, perhaps used for strangling him, was found wrapped around his neck, but there were no other injury marks.” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) A K Ojha.

According to police, the first floor of the house had been rented out to the accused on Friday. Claiming to be a clothes merchant, he had moved in at 6 pm the same day. Police said he was about 35 years of age and he had submitted a Karnataka pan card in the name of one Pradeep Kumar as identity proof.

“The accused was last seen on Friday. He was not seen on Saturday and the body was found on Sunday. It seems like his sole objective for renting the flat was to dispose of the body,” Ojha added.

Police said the landlady used to stay on the ground floor of the house.
