Cops file case after court rap - The Times of India

NOIDA: The reluctance of Noida police to register cases surfaced when a city court had to order the cops to file a case of cheating. According to a senior police official, a Delhi-based person was cheated of Rs 13 lakh by a real estate company in Noida. A case was finally registered with the sector 20 police station on Friday against five persons involved in the crime.

The victim, identified as Arun Patni, a resident of DDA flats CR Park, had booked four plots of 770 square feet each on May 30, 2006 and paid Rs 13 lakh for them. At the time of agreement, the accused was told that he would be given possession of the plots within six months. But nothing happened after the given period. Despite several attempts the victim failed to get back his money.

He then approached the Noida police in this connection. After getting a weak response, the victim approached a city court. Following the rap of the court, cops registered a case, according to DSP Brijesh Srivastav of Noida Police.

Noida cops said one of the accused is already in jail. A case of cheating has been registered against the five people.
